Private Lessons

Schedule some one-on-one time for yourself or get a few friends together to create your own special workshop! Let us know what topic strikes your fancy and the time that works best for you. We schedule private lessons Tuesday through Saturday with the first appointment at 10am and last at 6pm. Please check below for a sample of workshops! Just because you don't see your topic of interest listed, that doesn't mean we can't help. We encourage student-led instruction and prefer to work along side you rather than guess what you want to do. Reach out for more information and scheduling options. Waiting for a reply? Introduction to Knitting, $25
If you need a refresher course or to start from the beginning, this class covers just that! We'll discuss knit and purl stitch, ways to combine them to achieve various fabrics and then get into our swatch. Cast on, knit, purl if there is time. Includes knitting needles and yarn that you can take home to keep practicing along with a laminated reference card. Approximately 1.5 hours. When you are ready for more, schedule a follow-up at $10/hr.
Introduction to Crochet, $25
Get those building blocks in place so you can crochet all day! We'll start with our foundation chain and then move on to single crochet, half-double, and double as student or time allows. Class includes hook and yarn so you can keep growing your swatch along with a laminated reference card. Approximately 1.5 hours. When you are ready for more, schedule a follow-up at $10/hr.
Rigid Heddle Weaving, $45
This is a great intro to the rigid heddle loom. We use a 10" Schacht Cricket Loom and a ball of Lily Sugar n Cream to create a small cotton towel. The goal is to learn the terms and techniques involved in dressing the loom and basic tabby weave. Options for completing the woven project include renting the loom for an additional fee; return another day to complete; or spend the day at the shop. 2-3 hours of active instruction plus weaving time. This works best with one student, but can accommodate two weavers or three observing.
Spindle Spinning, $15
This is the perfect first step into handspinning. Students will work with a drop spindle to create their own yarn. Approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. Includes fiber. Spindle is extra and the cost depends on student's choice of tool. You can choose between a top whorl spindle or Turkish bottom whorl (when in stock).
Your First Hat, $45
You will be introduced to many new techniques in this knitting workshop when we make a ribbed cap. Students will learn how to knit in the round on circular needles, create ribbing, make cables, and decrease. We will be working with a bulky yarn on large needles, so the project should work up fast. This is a one-day workshop, however students are encouraged to schedule a follow up session at their convenience if needed. All materials provided.
Initial Punch: Introduction to Punch Needle, $35
Students will learn the basics of punch needle - the hottest new [old] craft! We will be using a Lacis adjustable punch tool or Oxford punch tool and working on a backing of monk's cloth. Explore different types of yarn - combine colors and textures. Hoop and punch tool are not included in the cost of class, but can be purchased at a 15% discount.
Hourly Lessons, $10
Individuals can schedule one-on-one time to get pattern help, project help, continuing education following an introductory class, or whatever is needed!
